I haven't been updating in a year *hehe*, yea I just got too lazy and then I never have the time. But since I'm so bored right now, I'll update you readers on my life. Right now I'm in college web and waiting for my car to come. He was suppossed to come at 4, and its 5 o'clock right now. Haih, he's always an hour late. When I say 3, he comes at 4. When I say 4, he comes at 5. Annoyed! Can't blame him since he comes from KL area to subang jaya, but why can't he go out an hour earlier?!

Anyway, right now I'm studying in Taylor's college, as most friend would know, doing A-Levels engineering course: physics, chemistry, maths and further maths. Dropped bio cos I had enough with it during high school and I actually want to drop physics too but since maths and physics are closely related, might as well take it. During the first week of school, it was quite lonesome. I didn't know anyone in my class, and there were only 4 girls in my class of about 20! Culture shock for me who has only been in an all-girls school during primary and secondary school. But later 3 more scholarship girls came in so now there's 7 of us females. But still too many guys in a class! Oh well, not a lot of girls will brave further maths I guess. I've gotten used to it already though.

My car's here! Oki, I'll update at a later date. Ciao!

blank

yes, i'm alive...haha...just felt like typing into my blog again after 5 freaking months!...as usual, got busy with life and school and homework and watching shows...my mid year exams are finally ending tomorrow!..and I couldn't be bothered to read anything for pjk right now...i have no more energy to study after add maths...i just want it over and done with...and finally get some freaking good night's sleep!

anyway, suffering from veronica mars withdrawal right now...the season just ended 2 weeks ago and i miss it already..=(..awesome episode btw...totally powerful and just as great as last season's finale..but it didn't have as much shock factor for me cos I was hanging out at forums and they all already suspected Beaver as the killer...that really teaches me to stay away from anything even remotely spoiler-y...anyway, i love that scene where veronica says 'A pony?!!', aw, her expression was just too adorable...and when she was up on stage and logan was giving her a half-smile and everybody was cheering...so cute..i love the whole dream sequence too...and when logan gave her a kiss...ah, i was squealing..plus, he looks too good in that dream..i love his hair, just wanna ruffle it..
haih, i'm so bloody relieved that they're gonna have a season3 for vm...i can't wait, i want to watch it NOW...

and i just watched american idol..i just absolutely love Katharine's somewhere over the rainbow...her performance just totally captures you in..but i suspect that Taylor's gonna win since he did good in all 3 of his songs..and it was so obvious how the audience liked him more than Kat...he just brings so much energy to his performances...i still don't like him though...don't know why...

A New Year's Post

Instead of studying, I fixed another new layout, what do you think?

So I may be 5 days too late, but just wanted to say Happy New Year 2006 to citizens of the world out there. Only 3 and a half hours. I watched Zorro on the plane even though I saw it before. That movie was just so enjoyable. Anyway, first day we got to Hong Kong, we didn't really do much because it took us 2 hours to get to Tsim Tsa Shui and then all we did was go eat some wantan mee. And it was quite delicious! We stayed at Shangri-la Hotel, which is a super nice hotel, really comfortable. Loads of channels on tv. They had Discovery Channel, Arirang, Star World, HBO, ... like over 30 channels, can't remember them all. And they gave us tea on the first day! We just went walking around at night. We were going to Disneyland the next day so I was excited!

Next day, we're off to Disneyland. We had to take 3 trains to get there, but the last train was really cute. It had the mickey mouse shape as the windows and handles. So cute! I was just estatic to be in Disneyland cos it's been so long since I've been to any theme park. Really missed it. But really, HK Disneyland is really sad. Very very little rides. I guess because it's new but still, it was pathetic. The most thrilling ride they had was Space Mountain. But I didn't really care, cos I was in Disneyland!! Haha. Anyway, me and my sis had to queue up to get pictures with Goofy and Pluto for my little sister. The day was spent more on queuing up than actually riding the rides. My little sister wanted to take photos with all the characters, so they all had to line up while I was sitting down looking after the cart. I think we lined up for maybe 2 hours. I was getting mad already cos I really wanted to try out the new Buzz ride. And it was already going to be night. Finally, got to try out the Buzz ride and it was so cool! And I was satisfied! =) Then, we stayed to watch the fireworks and that was really spectacular.

After that, it was pretty much just walking around and shopping for the next few days. Ate dim sum every morning which was wonderful, but I was really getting sick of drinking tea. Tea, tea, tea! We went to Ocean Park on one of the days and it was fun too! Watched the bird show there which was quite entertaining. Shopped for shoes, cos the shoes there are really cheap! It would cost around $HK 200-300 which would be around RM100-150 here. And there was this whole row of streets just selling shoes. Shop after shop after shop. Talk about competition. I found this really nice Converse shoes but sadly, they weren't my size. Sob. But I bought a pair of Nike shoes anyway.

The last day, we went to Disneyland again. Haha. My little sister wanted to. cough *spoiled* cough. At last, managed to ride all of the rides! And watch all of the shows! And I even went on my first Space Mountain ride. It was so amazing. Really fast, and it was completely dark so you couldn't see where you would turn next. It's like shooting off into the stars. There were some old people seating behind me and my sister so I was a bit worried if they could take it. But they survived. Haha. Went on the buzz ride 3 times again. It's so fun! And also managed to ride the Winnie the Pooh ride, after queuing for a full hour! There were too many people there and too little rides. After that, we went back earlier to avoide the crowd.

Next day, we were returning back to Malaysia. I had a good time there but was glad to be going home. Hong Kong is just too crowded for me, everywhere you go, there's people. And too much smoke from vehicles. Gives me a headache. At the airport, two of our guns got confiscated, toy guns my sister bought from Disneyland, haha, which was really ridiculous since they were toys. But they have a pretty strict policy. Didn't get to buy any souvenirs from the airport because of that. The flight back was alright, but the landing wasn't good. So that's it of my trip to HK. Only talked about Disneyland. Haha.

cute or wat!

me at Disneyland

look, it's Mickey and Minnie!

us on the Jungle ride

My Thoughts On HP and the Goblet of Fire

I just watched it at the cinema and I totally enjoyed it. Finally, a hp movie well worth the wait. And one thing I love about the hp world is Quidditch!!! But too bad they didn't show any quidditch scenes. I liked how they showed the beginning during the Quidditch game. The atmosphere reminded me of a football game, like MU vs Chelsea or something. The Weasley twins were awesome, they were just so fun and hilarious throughout the whole movie.

And it's obvious to see the relationship between Ron and Hermione has progressed further. Some people are supporting Harry/Hermione, but I think they are just good as best friends. You can see how close they are, and how she always supports him but it's more of a friends thing, where it won't progress further. That's why they're so close. But it was really sweet when she went to hug him before the Tri Wizard Tournament began. Ron and Hermione are more suited together and Hermione already said at that scene that Ron should have asked her to the dance earlier. Though I don't understand why she was so mad at him after the ball. Must've been a scene cut off. Anyway, I'll go read the book later.

Anyway, the movie had a lot of funny scenes and also some sad scenes, it was so tragic when Cedric died and he asked Harry to take his body back. And it was nice to see Neville again. He's like all grown up. Draco was pretty much useless in the movie. It was interesting to see other schools at Hogwarts. It was funny how they came in, especially Fleur's school with all the sighing. And Hermione and Ginny were looking annoyed. Lol.

Anyway, yea, loved the movie. Especially cos I didn't know what was gonna happen, except Lord Voldemort was gonna appear. And once again, Harry Potter has luck on his side. Honestly, he's so damn lucky that someone saves him every time. So go watch it!! Although I'm sure all fans have already gone to watch it. =P

3 Days in Tekam

Went to the Tekam Plantation Resort in Pahang for some leadership camp for 3 days, which is actually for prefects but there weren't enough, so after being undecided for 2 weeks, I finally decided to go. If you don't have anything interesting to do, here was my experience there.

I sat next to Pei on the bus, with Su Zhen and Sue Ann behind us and Hannah and May in front of us. On the left side was Pn Betty's son, Joey who came along, and Noraini. It took us less than 4 hours to get there, and it was a pretty quick ride there actually. We busied ourselves playing Cho Tai Ti (which I'm now pretty good at, lol) and listened to Sue's mp3 player. We had a tour guide/host with us who was a German guy called Tilman. We arrived at 11 or 12-something and was given our chalets. I was rooming with May, Hannah and Sharon but they told us only 3 people per room so Sharon went with another group. Our chalet was 33c and it was quite far away. Plus, I had to carry my extremely heavy bag. Our chalet ended up being the furthest away and our next-door neighbours were the last room. The chalet was not bad. It was clean and tidy. We had 2 beds and 2 extra mattresses, one small tv which only had channel 1, 2 and 3. No 8tv!! Sad. The bathroom was also clean.

The first day there, we were supposed to do rafting. But for some reason, they told us we weren't going to do that, but going to the oil palm nursery instead. It was pretty boring since they were talking about oil palms and teaching us how to identify the males and females. I was busy trying not to doze off. Anyway, it was all just oil palm stuff. I don't even remember what they were talking about. Afterwards, we had treasure hunt. We had to divide ourselves into 4 groups with an equal number of race, height and weight. My group was group 2, with Hannah, May, Sharon, Su Zhen, Sue Ann, Pei Xuan, Chai Yan, Chien Hwei, Zalifah, Laura, Tharshana, Aqilah, Sofia, Umamah, Hasliza and Mimi. We had to run around the place, looking for clues. And ended up being super tired afterwards. At night, we were supposed to have night walk but then it started raining and thundering so we had our own activities instead. First we had the untangle game, where we hold hands and try to untwist ourselves without letting go of the hands. Yea, it's the rangers game. We had no strategy so we just held whoever's hands we saw. It took us a while to untwist ourselves but we were the first group who managed to make one full circle. 2 groups were faster but they made 2 circles while we made one full circle! After that, each group had to create a cheer which included all our names and also about the school. We were blank, but then Laura and all started crapping and we managed to come up with something cool. One group recycled the rangers cheer. Our group did the best! Our cheer went like this:

We don't know what you've been told
But you should know we're icy cold
Zalifah: Who are we?
Stone Cold! Brrr! (lol) x2

Go shorty! It's your birthday! We're gonna party, with the shorty! ( to the tune of 50 cent's song)
(And then Laura and Zalifah introduce themselves)

(to the tune of Powerpuff Girls,
Has, Sofia and Umamah introduce themselves)

(Then Sue Ann, May, Aqilah and Chai Yan introduce themselves with the tune of YMCA, but using the letters SMKA..lol...Sue Ann, May, Kikilala and Aileen...and also SMK Assunta...get it?..lol)

(Then the rest of us used the tune to Addam's family and introduced ourselves)

(finally...)
We will, we will, rock you
Stone cold, stone cold, rock you
Assunta, Assunta, rock you

(insert applause)
End.

Yea, it does sound ridiculous, but it would've been pretty funny if you saw it. We won! And had to repeat the entire thing again. It was late already so we ended there. When May, Hannah and I went back to the chalet, we discovered that the electricity was out due to the lightning. But it was only our chalet and a few others at the end who were out. We were kinda freaked and scared cos it was all dark and our neighbours were very scared, which ended up scaring me. It was raining and we went to the reception area to inform them. Later we found out all we had to do was push the plug up. We hadn't even bathed yet! Later when we got the electricity back, we went to bathe but the electricity went out again and that was when May was in the bathroom. Luckily she was only brushing her teeth. It was so annoying cos I just had my bath and my hair was drying, and I had to go out into the rain again. We went out to investigate again, with May's poncho as cover. Everybody's chalet was out but there was nothing we could do except wait for the electricity to come back. Our neighbours were seriously freaking out which was making me mad cos I was feeling scared too. So we went back to our chalet with Sharon and Su Mein with us. Luckily, we only had to wait a while before the electric came back again. Sharon and Su Mein decided to bunk in with us cos it was already late. We talked and watched tv awhile before we went to sleep. May, Sharon and I stayed up awhile chatting, waiting for our hair to dry. It was around 2 before we got to sleep. It was a frightening night that'll certainly be memorable.

Next day, I didn't even hear my alarm ring. May woke us up at 6 and we got ready. First we went caving at Gua Kota Gelanggi. And it wasn't those kind of easy caving, where you just walk up some steps and get to the top. It was the messy, hands on kind. It was a bad time for me cos the sole of my shoes was coming out. May put some super glue on it which was working, until I got into the water. Then the dumb thing was coming out again. We walked through the forest stepping on the leaves and mud and water. Our shoes were soaked. When we got to the cave, we slowed down cos the entry into the cave was quite small, and everyone had to climb into this small hole to get into it. I slipped but managed to hold on. Thank God for flashlights! It was pretty scary in the cave, cos it was muddy and lots of holes everywhere so you needed to walk carefully otherwise you'd fall and slip into don't-know-where. But it was also fun and exhilarating. And we survived it! We got in and looked around a bit. There was some stones that looked like an elephant. And also one that looked like someone sitting on a throne. It was pretty cool. Afterwards, we had to go back the way we came in. We could go out another way, but it was pretty dangerous cos there was a way but the water would reach over our necks and also because the entry was very steep. So we went back out the way we came in. When we got out, my whole back was a mess, and the sole of my shoes was half coming out already. Hannah was laughing at me walking back cos I was taking huge steps. Half of it was coming out so it kept flopping back and forth. Quite hilarious if you had seen it. Moral of the story is, you should get new shoes for occasions like these. The whole thing finally came out anyway. I had to wear sandals after that.

Later, half of us had to do flying fox and the other half had to do rafting cos there were too many people. My group and Group 1 did flying fox. I was quite scared cos it was pretty high up and I had this whole fear of dropping in the middle of swinging down or the thing getting stuck halfway. But I did it anyway. Even Sharon did it and she was really scared. We had the option of going into the river after swinging or walking back. I wanted to walk back at first but then at the last minute, I decided to go into the river. It was pretty secure since you would be hooked to the string so you won't drift off to who-knows-where. We had to climb up the ladder which was a bit scary but I was more terrified of the going-down part. My heart was pounding waiting for the moment to go down. Suze and all were giving me encouragement from the bottom, telling me to scream Hyun Bin and all the Korean guy's names when swinging down...lol. I just wanted to get it over with. Anyway, I was too terrified to say anything. It was nice swinging down, very breezy. But it ended so quickly. Then going into the river was scary cos I was paranoid of all sorts of things being in the river, so I swam really quickly. Lol. Afterwards, some of them wanted to go rafting but some of us who were tired went back, including me. Took a very nice bath. It was quite funny after that cos we were all aching and tired. May, Hannah and I were pretty unbalanced when we walked around the chalet. Sometimes had to hold onto the wall or sometimes we'd just drop on the bed and roll around. And we went Ow! Ow! Ow! when we walked down the stairs. Lol. You would have been laughing your head off if you saw us.

At night, we had night walk in the plantation. We were only allowed to bring 2 torchlights and they told us not to 'talk nonsense' and ignore anything 'weird' we saw. We also had code names for each of us so we can avoid saying our real names. They brought us into the plantation and it was really dark so we held on to each other's hand tight, one in front of the other. They told us to remember the route and we went in. After that, they told us we were supposed to go back by ourselves and they took our torchlights and gave us 2 candles instead. We were supposed to keep it safe and not let it go out. I was damn terrified but just tried to chill. Just kept on looking straight or on the ground the whole way back. It wasn't that scary actually cos the instructor was following us anyway, and he was making it pretty obvious cos we could all see him. So I was more relaxed cos no way would we get lost with him around. Anyway, my group was the only group who managed to keep the candle lighted! O yea! Afterwards, we played a game called Queen of the Jungle. We sat in a circle and we had to say the numbers and substitute all ganda 3 with the word 'hutan'. 'Satu, Dua, Hutan, Empat, Lima, Hutan…' Somehow, we couldn't managed to get past 20. Very little people got past 10. I think it's a psychological thing. Or maybe the word's too hard to pronounce. A lot of people got out until there was only me, Sue Ann, Hannah and Mei Ling left. Then Mei Ling was out and we 3 were the winners!

That night, Hannah and I played speed and Sharon bunked in with us again. We were all chatting and talking about school life. We went to sleep around 1.

The next day, we woke up at 7 with May being our alarm clock again. Sharon's phone alarm was ringing but we all ignored it cos we didn't know where it was coming from. It was right next to her ear, and she was still sleeping. Unbelievable. Every part of my body was aching. We went to visit the orchards and plantations that day. And ate lots of fruits. Saw the oil palms, rubber trees and cocoa trees. After that, they gave us a lot of fruits to eat. Then we had to go back and pack. Went back around 1.30. On the bus, we chatted and played Cho Tai Ti and Cheat until we came back.

Overall, I had loads of fun there and lots of memorable experiences. Absolutely loved the caving! And so did not regret going. But too bad didn't get to do abseiling. I was really looking forward to that. Woke up at 11.15 today and had to rush to tuition. Lol.

Perhaps Love

Perhaps Love

A new movie coming out in December that's been receiving a bit of a buzz. A chinese musical, involving a love triangle.

Watch the trailer at the official site It's enough to get you excited. Sorta . . .

Finally, school is over, for my class anyway. Some classes will be still be going to school during SPM. But it doesn't feel like school is over at all. I have accounts test tomorrow and I'm going to have to study tonight. And there's loads of homework during the holidays for bio, chem and I still have finish up my moral folio. Plus, SPM next year! Gonna have to revise revise revise during the holidays. No more slacking! Or so I keep telling myself. My chemistry is horrible. But other than that, I think I can manage through it. I got 4th in class, amazingly enough. I thought I would get bottom half during the end year exams because I didn't really have time to study and I don't pay attention in classes at all, besides m3 time. Love add m3!! I got my first A for it. Haha. Anyway, it seems like school went by so quickly this year. I can't imagine that next year will be my last year in school. It seems like a million miles away.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://weitse.blogspot.com/2005/10/school-is-over-sorta.html' title='School is over! But I'm still waiting for my song to finish dloading. Right now, it's going real slow.

Just watched An Affair To Remember, the 1997 movie starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. Oh, that movie is so beautiful! I know it's a bit too sappy and mushy for some people, but for me it was just beautiful. It's like a perfect old-fashioned love story, something you'd read from novels and fanfic without the sex part..haha.
About Nicky Ferrante who's engaged to a rich woman but then meets Terry McKay onboard of a cruise ship. At first, they were just flirting with each other but later on they fall in love. They agree to meet each other 6 months later on the top of the Empire State Building, while they both try to get jobs. But tragically, Terry gets into an accident on her way there (sob). And Nicky doesn't know about it. Terry's legs get paralysed in the accident but it's not certain whether she can walk or not. Later on, they meet each other again by chance but they just say hello. He goes to see her and then finds out about the accident. That last scene is really touching. Just makes you wanna go 'aw!' It's a damn romantic movie. That's all I can say. And it has a lot of wonderful songs in the movie too.

Now must go find the 1939 original, Love Affair. = )

Great Way To Spend A Day Is To Bake!

Check it out, I have a new layout! Did you notice? Did you notice? I used CSS and had to tamper with it a million times. Still not that nice though. I must brush up on CSS again. But it looks different with Firefox and IE. Firefox, the font is black for some reason. And for IE, the font is the colour I set it to. I just don't know how to fix it. And I can't seem to work the padding for the sidebar.

Anyway, today went to MIB (Malaysian Institute of Baking) for a baking course. Interact Club was hosting it and they had extra places so they let non-Interactors to join. And it's free! I had so much fun! We learned how to make bread (though a lot of the work was done by the helpers there..haha), made walnut and chocolate muffin plus butter cookies. And we met the pakar baker, Mr. Don Yong or Young, not sure. He explained to us the essential ingredients to make bread: flour, water, yeast and salt. And went on explaining about how the bread forms and we were laughing cos it was like chemistry, learning about respirasi anaerob.
It's so fun to spend a day baking instead of being at school, feeling depressed about your oh-so-low physics marks. And me and Alyssa were singing, 'Yea...you know you gotta help me out..yeaaaa..." Haha. Later on though, my group's muffins went missing. No idea where it went. We still took back some muffins but it wasn't ours cos ours had no 4 at the bottom of the paper. Oh well, at least we had our bread. It tasted so good! Especially when it's fresh out of the oven!

2 more weeks till school ends!

Exam's are over!!! Isn't it amazing we've gone independent for 48 years? I know that the feeling of Merdeka has gone stale now but imagine what it must have been like 47 years ago in 1957, when we first got our freedom, that feeling of happiness, of being freed of the chains of the British. It must have been pretty damn amazing.

I've been too lazy to update my blog nowadays, didn't even record my trip from Kuala Kangsar, but since I have free time now..to hell with sleep! Later, I shall be doing a new layout for this blog, since I've finally learned how to do a css layout, albeit a simple one. I'm just a beginner, ya know. But the new layout will definitely look better than the last one.

I shall leave this post with a line from Tash Aw's debut novel, The Harmony Silk Factory that kind of struck me:

(Let me just find the page first)

There, too, was the Tunku, the Father of the Nation, raising his hand and repeating the word 'Merdeka' three times, the people on the Padang echoing back, the chants coming through the television sets as clear and sharp in our ears as breaking glass. Independence. Freedom. New Life. That was what the word meant to us. And although the innocent dream we had for our country have died in the years since then, suffocated by our own poisoned ambition, nothing will ever diminish what we felt. Nothing will rob us of those stuttering sepia-washed images of Merdeka Day.

Practical Exam

On Friday, I woke up with butterflies in my stomach wishing it was already tomorrow. Why? Because my piano practical exam was on that day. I know it wasn't any use to be scared but I can't help it. I'm still scared. I find the thought of someone judging me scary. My own private issues, I guess. I've been practicing hard for the past week, and I know all my scales already, though my fingers still won't cooperate with me and tend to play other notes instead of the one I intend them to play. My pieces are good, I mean, I could pretty much remember the whole piece without the book anyway. No hope for my side reading however. That one can already be counted as screwed. I don't know how anyone can read notes so fast, but I'll mistake E for C and I'll overlook any sharps or flats, and it takes me forever to read the next notes.

So, I practiced in the morning and at 11.10am, I went to the Prince Hotel for the exam. By the time I got there, it was already 11.45am. After I registered, it was ten minutes before it was my turn. My hands wouldn't stop sweating. As usual, it was a guy examiner again. I never get the girls, though my friends say they're stricter than the guys. Anyway, he was very polite, yea, all British guys are always so polite. I started with my scales and this is where the nightmare begins. The first one I played, I played 2 octaves instead of 3 octaves. And I pretty much played something wrong at every scale, either missing a note, or suddenly slowing down. And I played C# minor instead of C minor. Hah! Thankfully, the guy was really nice. My chromatic went suprisingly well and my arpeggios too. But I think I got one of the notes wrong.
My pieces was suppose to go well. I practiced it a million times a day, but still, STILL, mistakes. Argh! And I didn't go loud or soft enough.
Side reading was horrible. The guy only gave me 15 seconds to look at it. And I was confused whether I could practice play it or not. I think I got everything wrong. 'Nuff said. The singing part I think went partially well, I don't know whether my singing was accurate. After that, the examiner played a piece. I didn't expect it to be so short. He asked whether it started with a minor or a major. I think it was a minor. Then he asked whether it ended with a minor or a major. I didn't remember so I said minor. Next, is it from the Baroque period (I don't know what period this is) or from the Romantic period? I have no idea what Baroque period music sounded like, so I went with Romantic since the piece did sound kinda romantic. It was played in minor key, and it was slow and soft, and in the lower region. He asked me why I thought so, and I gave him a crappy answer. After that, he gave me a really really long piece to clap. Honestly it was really long. I couldn't remember the rhythm. And the end. He thanked me. And I thanked him back. And he thanked me very much back. Honestly, why are they so polite? It's quite annoying sometimes.

Yea, so this is my not-so-bad experience for Grade 5 practical exam. It was better compared to my Grade 4 experience but still bad. I don't know whether I'll pass, but if the guy is really nice, I think I might pass. Because yea, I made tons of mistakes, but I knew my scales and pieces, I knew the sharps and flats to play. I just always missed the notes. It was the best I can do. So here's to hoping.

No Really, You Should Watch Veronica Mars

source: TVgasm
by Erica

A few days ago, J-Unit posted about his Veronica Mars skepticism. Since I started watching the show I've encountered this same skepticism from a lot of my friends, all avid TV watchers who I know would love the show. I've heard "yeah, I know, I've heard it's really good but..." more times than I can count. And yet so far I've managed to convert more than a few friends, co-workers, and total strangers. after the jump, hear my rebuttals to some weak "I would watch, but..." excuses, all of which I've actually heard.

1. "I would watch, but...it seems kind of lame. It's like some Nancy Drew-type stuff, right?"
Yes and no. Veronica is a detective, but this isn't a formulaic detective show. As an amateur sleuth working for her father, a private investigator and former sheriff, Veronica solves crimes, and they range from credit card fraud to kidnapping to dognapping. But this mystery-of-the-week detective work is less important than Veronica's questioning of some key events in her life, namely the following:

Why did my boyfriend abruptly break up with me? Who murdered my best friend (who was also my boyfriend's sister), and why? Why did my mom run out on our family? Who drugged and raped me at a party, and why?

And instead of crying into her flask and becoming a lesbian when times get tough (she's no Marissa Cooper), Veronica approaches these problems as a detective. She looks at them as puzzles to be solved. The first season of the show centers of Veronica's quest to answer the above questions and return her life to the "normal" way it was before. And in this case, "normal" means class politics, extramarital affairs, and possible incest.

2 "I would watch, but...isn't it just like all those other teen shows?"
Now would be a good time to emphasize the possible incest. How many teen shows have that? Seriously, people, this show is DARK. A lot of really messed-up things happen on this show (like the aforementioned rape and murder), but they're not dealt with in a scandalous, soapy way. They're presented as inevitable, believable facts of Veronica's life that she has to figure out how to deal with. That's not to say the show isn't funny. It's not sitcom-funny, it's not Adam Brody-funny, but it is definitely funny in its own subtle way.

Plus, the plots make sense in a way that teen soap plots often don't. I've never had a "No! Stop! Why are you doing that!" screaming at the television moment with this show. Though I have screamed "Oh my god!" and "Awesome!" and "He's sooooooo hot I can't even take it anymore!"

Visually, Veronica Mars is unlike any other teen show. The cool color palette features lots of greens, blues, and browns, and for a show that takes place in a beach town in California, even the outdoor scenes are surprisingly dark.

One thing VM does have in common with a lot of teen shows is that most of the actors playing teens are actually in their 20s. Still, no one looks too old (there's no hag-like Gabrielle Carteris hanging around). Plus, it'll make you feel a little less dirty when you develop crushes on Kristen Bell (Veronica) and Jason Dohring (Logan), who are by the way, two of the best actors on TV

3. "I would watch, but...it's on UPN."
Of all the reasons I've heard for not watching Veronica Mars, this is the one I never understand. Do people feel some kind of flushed-face embarassment just from watching the network that features Eve and The Parkers? Do they think that VM will automatically suck just because it's on a sucky network? People watch the WB. People watch public access. Why can't they watch UPN? Think of it this way: maybe VM is about to usher in an era of greatness for UPN. Or maybe it will always stink. Either way, who really cares? [ed note: TVgasm readers should not have this problem sine you all love ANTM]

4. "I would watch, but...it's going to be on at the same time as Lost."
Look, I like Lost, too, but I still contend that Veronica Mars is the better show, and the show with more respect for its fans. (The only thing missing is Hurley.) Remember all those questions I laid out in #1? Each one is answered in detail by the end of the last episode. And how much have we learned about the world of Lost since the beginning? What's in the hatch? What about the monster? And the others? I love suspense, but I also like my questions answered in a timely fashion.

But regardless of which show you prefer, you can actually watch both. See, they have this thing now called the VCR (and the DVR, and the Tivo) where you can watch one thing and record another sometimes! Also, I hear that there's this thing called the internet where you can download shows that you can't watch on your TV.

5. "I would watch, but...I don't want to watch the episodes out of order, or only watch some and not others. Plus, I've already heard who the killer is. Why should I bother?"
Each week during the regular season, approximately 2.4 million people watched the show. Some of them must still have it on tape. Or on the internet. You could also tape the first few episodes of the season, which starts on September 21st, and then watch them after you watch the DVD, which comes out October 11th. You could also check out Mars Investigations (http://www.marsinvestigations.net), a great site created primarily for latecomers to the show as a catch-up tool.

My roommate and I had pretty much figured out who the killer was, and who the rapist was, before those episodes aired. (It's not that it's easy to figure out. It's more that we made "sitting around and discussing who the killer might be" our main social activity for the weeks leading up to the finale.) And even though I knew who the killer was, I still felt like the last episode of the season was one of the most suspenseful things I've ever seen on TV. Despite being a "detective show," Veronica Mars isn't just about the facts--it's about how those facts are portrayed and how they affect the characters and their relationships.

This is the point in any conversation between me and someone I'm trying to convince to watch VM in which I basically beg them to give it a chance. I have to admit that I was a latecomer to the show. I had heard about it at the beginning of the season but didn't feel like investing the time or energy into watching another show, and a friend convinced me to just tape a few episodes and watch, and I'm so glad he did. I've staked my reputation as a devoted TV fan on this show more than once. I've offered to write up recaps or act out episodes for anyone who was the slightest bit hesitant. (That offer still stands, if any of you want to track me down and force me to reenact Veronica Mars on the streets of New York.)

It's just really, really good. And as my roommate said when I asked her if I had left anything out: "Also! Cordelia! Woo!

Neptune High (Trading Card Game)

moved to a new blog. I'm happy for the extra koko marks but now I wished I'd gotten the Asst. Sec instead. Life would be much easier then and I would have more free time. So tiring, everyday I have to type out something or photostat something. And I have to go for campfires and joint ventures. I'm so not the outdoor-sy type and yet I'm in rangers. Go figure.

I've been having a soar throat since like, last week. Lost my voice for 2 days. It went like so grouchy and rough, and I couldn't go loud or higher or lower. Otherwise, my voice would just go horrible. Thank God it's back to normal. I've learned to value the art of speech now. But I can't stop coughing.

I'm obsessing over a new show now. Veronica Mars. About this girl who is named Veronica Mars, obviously, and she used to be this popular girl with a perfect life until her boyfriend, Duncan broke up with her and her best friend, Lily got murdered. Her dad, Keith Mars thinks that Lily's dad was the one who committed the murder but no one believes him and so Veronica and her dad get shunned by the town plus, he even gets fired from his job as sherrif of the town. One year later, Veronica is working for her dad who's a private investigator and she's become this tough chick, who doesn't take crap from anyone. The people at her school, Neptune High, treats her like dirt and is generally mean and cruel to her.
So, she starts to investigate Lily's murder and episode by episode, she uncovers more and more hidden truths. And she also does investigations and solve mysteries on the sideline.
What's great about this show is the writing. The lines are so witty and the stories are so smart. And Kristen Bell as Veronica Mars totally shines on screen. Her character is so cool that you can't help but love her. You have got to watch this show. I've watched the entire first season already and eagerly awaiting season 2.

I've finally watched Singin' In The Rain. Yes, the 1952 classic musical. Loved it. Love, not like, love. It's so funny and alright, the plot is kinda simple but it's so hilarious and the music is so wonderful and gene kelly's tap dancing is, in one word, WOW. Seriously. Singin' In The Rain is the most famous song from the show but there are a few more songs in the show that are nicer. I'm listening to the songs every day now. And looking for more old classics to watch. They just don't make movies like they used to, and where did all the musicals go? Besides Moulin Rouge, that is.

Mid-year Exams Results

Bahasa Melayu - 72
I'm most definitely content for my BM marks. = )

English - 89
Highest mark in class but quite a few people got the same marks as me. Anyway, this paper was easy.

Moral - 71
Where did I go wrong? I can't stand to see a 70+ for moral. I mean, all you have to do is memorise some nilais and kata kuncis and know when to apply it and insert some penerangan and contoh. It can't be that hard. So, why is my mark so low?

History - 78
Argh, my objective paper was awesome but my subjective paper didn't do as well. I suck at essays. That's why you should only have objective papers for an exam.

Math - 88
I shall aim for 90+ next time.

EST - 68
68?! What the hell?! I hate EST!!!!!!!!!

Add Math - 69
I still dislike anything below 70 but who am I to complain? I'm grateful I could actually pass the paper, I love log!

Physics - 65
Sigh. Oh well, it's the best among my science subjects.

Chemistry - 61
Phew. Though I would fail. Everything about this paper sucked but I actually got an okay mark.

Biology - 50
*insert star wars theme* Aaaaaaaaaaah! I'm so happy I didn't fail this paper. The whole meiosis and mitosis thing was just confusing me and don't get me started on that last experiment. Plus, my essays were terrible. I got really low marks for that which just pulled my entire paper down.

PJ - 78
Who cares about PJ anyway?

But still with all my low marks, I got 6th in class with a percentage of 71.1. Two spots down from the last exam but who's counting? *smiles obliviously* Yahoo! Still, my dad gave me a outraged look when I told him all my marks. Yeesh, parents. I don't understand why he has to be so shocked by my marks when he's already had the experience of exams results of my last two sisters. He should know by now that no matter how smart you are, your marks are going to drop when you come to Form 4. I swear, nothing short of 100 will ever satisfy him!

SPCA Trip

May, Su Zhen and I went to SPCA last Saturday to do some charity work (for Moral). Amongst the revelatory tidbits (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD):

- At the end of a Q&A session with several of the show's writers, one audience member shouted, "Don't kill Sawyer," referring to the island's hunky bad boy. Executive producer Damon Lindelof replied, "We won't. But he did get shot, which means his shirt will be off in a future episode." As female crowd members whooped, Lindelof added, "And he'll be wet" (due to Sawyer's fall into the ocean).

- "The plane did not crash by accident," Lindelof told the crowd. "It crashed for a very specific reason." But he dismissed speculation that someone aboard the plane caused the crash. "I will tell you today that is not the case."

- Lindelof promises "Season 2 is gonna get weird" - though he and other writers promised the mysteries wouldn't drag on as long as "The X Files," which ran nine seasons. What's inside the mysterious hatch will be interesting, but not as interesting as the effect it has on the John Locke character.

- Finally, and not surprisingly, the rear section of the plane - and additional survivors - will be discovered during the second season.

Thanks to 'Lana'.

Another Trip To Mid Valley

Here's what happened.

So, Jeev and I had planned to watch Star Wars since before the holidays started but didn't really finalize the plans until Wednesday. We planned to go out on Friday with Jam and Jeev said we would go out after accounts. Then on Thursday night, Jam told me she had tuition after accounts so we would be going in the afternoon. I had actually already told my parents I was going in the morning because my mum had this whole other schedule and we only have one driver. So, I panicked a bit cos I didn't want to be stuck in Mid Valley all by my lonesome for who-knows how many hours. I then tried to ajak Pei Xuan but she couldn't make it on Friday. Then I talked to Alyssa who said she could make it in the morning and I was relieved again. But then her plans were kind of shaky because she needed to stay at home to take care of her little brother. Which got me all panicky again.
Next morning, Jam told me we would be watching in the evening because it was the only tickets she could get and I got frustrated because that time was too late for me so I thought, forget it. But Aly was already on her way there so I had to go. We ended up watching Star Wars without Jam and Jeev.

Yes, I finally watched Star Wars like how many other countless people already did. It was okay, I guess. I've never been a big fan but I liked the older eps rather than the newer ones. Episode 1 and 2 were such a dissappointment, I really wasn't expecting Episode 3 to wow me. But it turned out good, even though I was blur half the time. Well, you don't need to know much about Star Wars anyway, just know Anakin's going to turn into Darth Vader, Jedis are all-around good guys and Yoda is so cool! What I really like about Star Wars is when they're showing the spaceships flying around and it's going updownoverunder, and the camera sort of follows it, it's like you're being sucked into the action, so that's pretty awesome. The best part was the moment when Obi-wan defeats Anakin and cuts off his legs, and then Obi-wan breaks down and says, "You were supposed to be the Chosen One!" Ah, that part was really sad! Well, one lesson this movie taught me was, love complicates things! The part where Padme confronts Anakin and realizes he's evil didn't really get to me. When she said, "You're breaking my heart," I don't know but that line was just so stupid, it made me laugh. And Aly was reciting half the lines in the movie because she already has the VCD at home.

During the movie, my phone rang twice because Jeev was calling me and I was trying to decide, Should I disturb the half-filled cinema and answer the phone or I should I just ignore it? I ignored it. After we got out, we found out Jam and Jeev were already in MV so we went looking for them but soon gave up when we realised they might be watching a movie already. But we banged into them and ended up watching a movie together. It's funny how I worried so much yesterday on working out the time and plans, but it turned out to be so easy to get us all there. And we had a good time.

We didn't know what to watch, but we ended up watching a movie called Spellbound after me and Aly's insistance. I had recommended it because it got good reviews and it was one of those documentary types and I'm a sucker for those. Spellbound is a documentary about eight kids who got into the 1999 National Spelling Bee Competition in Washington DC and it's just a simple movie showing the story of each of the kids and the way they face the competition and their life. It was a pretty good movie (though I liked Supersize Me better, lol) but Jam was complaining the whole way through. I guess most people would find it boring but I thought it was a good movie. And it made me realized how many words I actually know in the English Language, which is pratically nothing. Almost all of the words they were asked to spell, I haven't even heard of and it was amazing to see kids younger than me being able to spell it out. I got a few guesses right. Lol. But it's pretty inspiring to see kids so young working so hard to win the competition. Here's a few examples of words they had to spell: heleoplankton, kokaburra, logorrhea. God, I hope I'm typing it out right. Lol. One of the contestants was a boy named Harry who was our favourite, he was just so cute and had a fun personality but sadly he lost after he misspelled banns. We were all rooting for him in the cinema. Lol. But in the end, it was a pretty sweet movie too to see how much the parents supported them and cheered them on. If you want to read plenty of rave reviews, you can check out this site or at rotten tomatoes or the official site because they can express it so much better than me.

Trade Log (Neptune High)

AUGUST
03/8
- starter pack: creditisdue02, duncan02, familychristmas12, keithmars14, koolaid07, girlnextdoor18, returnofthekane17, wrathofcon11, wallace11
- guess the actor: wrathofcon14
- guess the extra: veronicamars18 and logan10
- guess the card: pilot12 and familychristmas17
- scrambledwords: openingcredits20
- puzzle: logan13 and familchristmas03
- freebies: familychristmas05
- memory game: familychristmas06 and veronicamars12

04/8
- guess the episode: familychristmas15 and pilot15
- they said what?: logan08 and jason16

The Rent Movie

I just found out that they're making Rent the movie, based on the musical. I'm quite enthusiastic about the movie though I've never seen the musical but it has Idina Menzel in it so that got me really excited. It's coming out on November 11 2005 and official site is here but the trailer's not even up yet. There is also a Rent blog where the actors write about making the movie. I can't wait for the movie to come out!

just jared dot com is a awesome site!

Just wanted to let you guyz know of just jared dot com. Straight after American Idol. Will the Idol fever ever end?

So, we started off the show with our two hosts, Jien and Cheryl Samad (what ever happened to Aleya?) recapping us on the past season finalists' happenings. It seems 7 of them got record deals with the companies and that has never happened before on any idol show. Well, I can't say much about that but it was nice to see Dina again. She's so fun and cool! And Vic was his usual -emotional- self. I knew he was going to cry when he started talking about his mom.

Anyway, they showed a lot of funny stuff and our two hosts were just very excited. Jien was doing all the stupid stuff while Cheryl was all smiles and being the usual nice girl. She has very fluent BM, I must say. The chemistry between the judges was great and got to see Paul Moss and Roslan arguing again (for 5 minutes!) and the usual Kak Gee who barely speaks at all. I think they gave very long criticism (sometimes too long) and half the time, they were quite mean to the auditioners but I think they did give constructive advice, especially Paul. The only thing is they were a bit too long-winded about it. But it's great to see them back again.

I didn't see any rising stars in the auditioners, not so early in the season anyway, but I do hope we find someone as talented as Jac was last season. We had M'sia's usual horribly off-key singers and there was one guy who wore makeup with blue lips, he looked really scary. And what song did he choose to sing? Marilyn Manson. And he was pretty much just screaming. There was also another contestant who was quite good (so-so) and they let him audition a 2nd time, the poor guy, you could see he was terribly nervous, especially when he sang the 2nd song. Hope he overcomes his stage fright.

So far so good. I guess. Well, it's Malaysian Idol. What more can you ask for? The end scene was hilarious when Jien and Cheryl had to go on the sampan to Johor because the judges used all the budget to fly first class. They had so many funny scenes. Anyway, can't wait to see what new talent will be uncovered on MI.

Chemistry sucks, What else is new?

Mid-year exams are over! Finally! 3 weeks is long enough, too long in fact. And I already got to know 3 subject marks which is Add M3, Mod M3 and Physics. And both my Add M3 and Physics are in the 60's region. Which really sucks. But it's not like I wasn't expecting low marks. I did pretty bad in this exam, and the internet was distracting me half the time! I'm already expecting to fail my Chem and possibly Bio too. Gasp.
But who cares, anyway? It's the holidays! So no school thoughts! Shoo.

On to more interesting matters, I've gotten into the crazy world of live journal. I saw the pretty little icons and fell in love with them. It's amazing how they can create so much beauty with just 100x100 pixels. Now I've gotten into the habit of icon-making already. I'm still a beginner though so not much creativity with my icons. But I've been joining a few icon contests. Hopefully, I might actually win something. Visit my lj! It's still totally empty now but I'll soon be filling it up with icons. Meanwhile, you should go to my friends section at the lj for some gorgeous icons.

About American Idol: Bo should have won. I really feel so wholly unsatisfied that Carrie won. I don't think she has as much talent or star quality as Bo does. But I guess she overshadowed him with her powerful voice and the fact that she went last. But I'm not in America, so whatever. That Simon parody was hilarious, however. And Constantine as the waiter...ah, cuteness! And William Hung, Oh God, that just cracked me up!

Homework: So, my teacher assigned us to read 10 books this holiday as homework. 10 books in 2 weeks. Does she think we have no lives or something? That doesn't even gives us more than a day to finish one book. And she wants us to read books that are up to our level when before she said that we could read anything we wanted. Annoying. I love to read more than most people but 10 books in 14 days is just way too much. She gave us this 15 minute lecture on how reading builds our character and makes us more outspoken and observant of the world. "And no romance novels! Romance novels should be destroyed!" Geez, romance novels are for the enjoyment, the excitement and just to lose ourselves in a happy(hot) fairytale. What is so wrong with that? I bet she would have read plenty of romantic novels when she was our age but then again she was from a convent so...

Since it's the Star Wars Season...

take a look at this: Store Wars

It's freaking hilarious! Most probably Sir Ian will be playing Leigh Teabing, for those of you who have read the book.

'Lost' in Hawaii

I'm getting so hooked to Lost nowadays. I can't help it. The whole storyline is just incredible and full of twists and turns. Great cast and I love it when they show their lives before the crash. It's just so damn interesting. Every episode gets more exciting. EOnline is having a Lost week and showing clips and interviews...sometimes it sucks to not be an American. Here I am in good ol' Malaysia, where they're only showing ep 10 here. And the s1 Lost finale will be showin on 25 May which will be competing with the s4 AI finale if I'm not mistaken. I say, Go Lost Go! I have no doubt they'll get better ratings.

I know I promised myself no spoilers for Lost but I just couldn't help it so I read the interviews from EOnline. I don't know much but from what I've read/seen -accidentally- (haha), Claire has her baby, they end up building a raft, something about evil baby and evil Walt, Boone dying (I think), and I heard from someone that Jack is gay. Not too sure about that last one though. But someone from the cast is gonna die. Here are some of the interviews from EOnline:

JJ Abrams

Role: Executive producer, cocreator
Where We Found Him: On a top-secret secure phone line
Need-to-Know Info: He's JJ freaking Abrams. Alias mastermind. Felicity genius. All around TV god. Need I say more?

We are totally obsessed. How did you guys do it?

I think the premise of the show is such a universal curiosity: What would happen to me if I were stranded on a desert island? Which is inherently intriguing. But I think the longevity of the show is, and will be, attributable to the characters. There are so many people to relate to that there's someone for everyone in a way. Some people watch because of Sawyer. Other people watch because of Sayid or, you know, Michael or Jack. They are coming into contact with an environment and mysteries and absolute terror every day, but they're responding the way anyone watching might respond, so they're incredibly relatable.

Both your show and Desperate Housewives are serialized character dramas with an element of mystery. Is there a reason that worked so well?

I'm not sure how or why Lost and Desperate Housewives works for the audiences. I can tell you why Lost works for us. We just try to tell stories that are compelling to us, and then we cross our fingers and hope people agree. But I do think mystery and a sense of inevitability are things that made certain reality shows successful--American Idol, The Amazing Race, Survivor. You feel that sense of building to the point...the fact that we haven't seen the monster yet, or the fact that we don't know why Locke doesn't walk, or exactly why Hurley was in that mental institution, all sorts of things. For some viewers, the fun of it is extrapolating, based on what you've seen, what the rest of the picture is.

So, what is rest of the picture? What can you tell us about season two?

It is very much another chapter in the story, and it's one of those things where you really don't wanna say anything, but...they've been there for 40 days, and they've been pretty reluctant, for obvious reasons, to venture out too much. If the first 40 days was about their arrival and them realizing that they're going to be there for a while, I'd say the next 40 days is more about their establishing a sense of society and of more permanence, and there are going to be specific story points that will give them very specific objectives that will be part of the overall arc of the season next year.

Is the finale cliffhanger going to drive us nuts?

I think certain story points will be answered that will provide people with real satisfaction, and at the same time, the season finale is, I think, just incredibly shocking. It's going to be really unbelievable.

I gotta say, I'm really getting impressed with JJ Abrams. I mean Joss Whedon is still No.1 to me (and always will be) but JJ Abrams is also another genius of the television world. I'm becoming a fan of his.

Damon Lindelof

Lost Role: Executive producer, cocreator
Where We Found Him: Deep within Lost headquarters
Need-to-Know Info: There's a good reason I saved Lindelof--and not Matthew Fox or Josh Holloway--for the big finale of our Lost week. Sure, we love those guys, but I can't help but want to champion Damon even more, for he is something of an unsung hero. Everyone knows Lost is JJ Abrams, but it's fair to point out it never would have existed without Lindelof, who came up with the original concept and shepherded every storyline this season. Not only is he a creative genius--he came up with the idea to put Locke in a wheelchair and wrote the episode where the hatch lit up--he's also the kind of producer who emails you out of the blue to say thanks. And better yet, he's willing to dish. Whee!

Second season. Spill.

One of the really cool things, to me, is that we are going to be introducing new characters to the show. And it'll just get out who we've cast, because we're gonna start shooting the show in July. I think people's default position will be, "Oh, they're all people who we just haven't met yet," sort of in the chorus of, you know, meat socks, as we call them, the people in the background...Maybe some of these characters will come from the chorus and maybe they won't, but word will start to trickle out over the summer about who's joining the cast of Lost, and, more importantly, who's leaving the cast.

Doing what?! Why?

People can only track so many characters, and we can't do what 24 does, which is bring them in for six or eight-episode arcs because the actors need to live in Hawaii. And with an actor on our show, we need to have them locked down, because how do you get them off the island if they get a movie? We don't have a lot of malleability, so big, epic sorts of series decisions have to be made at the beginning of each season, and you're just sort of married to them.

I guess that's okay. As long as it's not a cliffhanger.

That's what the show promises! For me, the greatest Star Wars movie ever was Empire Strikes Back, where it's like, whoa, Darth Vader tells Luke Skywalker he's his father, he cuts his hand off, and the Rebellion is completely crushed and everybody is like absolutely and totally f--ed, and that's the end of the movie. You're like, Wait! What? I will never forget the three years between Empire and Jedi, like, how awesome it was, the level of anticipation.

The EOnline site also has interviews from YunJin Kim, Dominic Monaghan, Jorge Garcia, Harold Perrineau, Daniel Dae Kim and Evangeline Lily PLUS clips of them doing the interviews. I have to say, Daniel Dae Kim IS a nice guy in real life, very likable compared to him on screen. He played a real annoying character on Angel so I didn't really like him. But he's quite sweet in real life. YunJin Kim is also a really cool gal. Haha, I'm partial to Korean people. Anyways, the link is the title, so click on that and read the interviews and see the clips cos they're really funny.

Does Your English Cut The Mustard?

Your English Skills:

Punctuation: 80%

Spelling: 80%

Grammar: 60%

Vocabulary: 20%

Does Your English Cut the Mustard?

cos mine doesn't. memo to myself: improve on vocab - as fast as possible!

what romance movie best represents your love life?

I'm sure it's no big surprise to you that your
romance is The Princess Bride. A heartwarming
tale of "Twue Wuve" that has giants,
Spainards and swashbuckling. You really do
think that love can overcome anything. You may
be a touch naive but your heart is certainly in
the right place. Thank God, thank God, after all the hard work and scolding we've gotten, the endless practices, the horrible mood swings of our trainers, the white skin that we can never get back... Though we all thought we were gonna lose cos our belok ke kiri and legs were horribly wrong. We were all in a bit of a depressed mood after that. Luckily we did a good job at the end part. And I think it was our spirit too. I really feel like our marchers were very bersemangat.
3rd is Clare and 2nd is Assunta. When Assunta was announced 2nd, we were all terrified that we were gonna be last cos francis marchers were really good....but poor things, they got disqualified cos of their costumes and they've worked so hard. Just shows that they should really explain to us all of the rules of marching.

1st for junior cheerleading

2nd for junior cheerleading

1st for senior cheerleading. I''m gonna really miss marching, well not exactly marching, but just the atmosphere of it, the close bond we've all formed. And I'm gonna miss marching every morning. No more exercise for me. And I plan to hide from the sun for the entire year now. However, no way am I gonna march next year. Once is enough to last a lifetime. Good luck as captn naz, you're gonna need it...lol. I might join rangers marching next year, they're so relaxed and don't need to worry about their marching. Ok, now to concentrate on studies. 2 more weeks till the mid-year exams....yikes!

tomorrow's a holiday!

tomorrow's a holiday! tomorrow's a holiday! tomorrow's a holiday! I am so incredibly grateful cos I don't think I can stand one more day of non-stop marching. And I can finally get some much needed sleep.

Let's see...what have I been doing these past few days? Monday - raptai for the marchers. Tuesday - raptai sukan Wednesday - marching in the morning and afternoon. So basically, all we've been doing marching. And because of that, I now look like a malay. I want my fair skin back! I really, really hope we win cos we've been practising like crazy. Plus, all the scolding we've gotten...But when they don't scold us, it's quite fun too. Actually, marching with the team is fun, especially during resting hours where we joke around but then the mood goes away when they start to scold us. But quite worried since clare marchers are really good. Their legs are totally perfect and coordinated. I don't know bout us...

Anyway, just watched Windstruck while doing m3. The korean movie starring Jeon Ji Hyun and Jang Hyuk. It's about this woman cop who meets this guy whom she thought was a robber, and so ended up beating him up and dragging him back to the police station. Later, they ended up dating. But then, during one of her police missions, she accidentally shoots him and he dies. And so the last half of the show involves her being sad and wanting to kill herself. She remembers that he once said that when he dies, he wants to reborn as the wind. So whenever she feels the wind, he will be there by her side. Then, she got shot and was going to die but then he appears to her in a dream and tells her to accept that he's dead. So, she manages to live. At the end, he appears to her again and they say their last words to each other before he leaves. Then he as the wind, brings her to a new guy. The end.
I was kinda expecting another Sassy Girl movie but it turned out quite different. And it was quite funny to see Cha Tae Hyun at the end..I was so suprised..haha...But anyway, overall, I thought it was a weird movie. Though there were some very cute moments at the beginning. eg: when they got handcuffed together and took turns to wash their face. That scene was just too adorable. And the show has a pretty nice soundtrack too.

to complain about marching

Im sick of people being ungrateful about us marching. I come every single bloody morning and every wednesday and thursday, and still, they scold and yell at us. I mean, yea, ok there were some who always never come, but I am not one of them and neither is Pei2, Naz and ...but we are the ones who get scolded, wtf?!!! And Puan Shailajah or watever the heck you spell her name, came to give us some scolding too. Teachers can be so un-understanding. It's not that easy to get out of class, some teachers have no compassion or empathy and just say that they don't care about your marching, so what the heck am I suppose to do? I can't just leave the friggin class. And I don't even want to skip classes, especially not m3.And she was scolding us about not coming for merentas desa. I had 'ching bing' aka chinese prayers on that day, I can't exactly skip that or I'll be haunted by my ancestors for not visiting them. I was really giving it my all already but they don't even see it. Eeeesh, I thought sports was supposed to be fun. For english. Sigh, props to me for not handing in my summary and thus having many, many marks deducted. I haven't gotten 70 for english since, ...well, never. For BM, I got a 65. Well, can't hope much for that paper.
So overall, I got 6(A1), 3(A2) and 1(3B). Stupid BM, tarnish my beautiful A's. Lol. And even with those lousy marks of mine, I got 4th in class with a 81.20 percentage! Yay! I didn't really expect to get that high. 1st was Sheau Ruey, 2nd Su Zhen and 3rd Siva. Smart alecs.

Ya know, now they're giving us both the report slip and another piece of paper for our parents to sign to ensure that we won't sign it ourselves. What makes them think that we can't forge our parents signature on the other piece of paper? And what's annoying me more is that fact that it's wasting paper. They already know the earth is in a critical condition right now, somemore they want to waste so much paper. And not only that, the papers we fotostat everyday for moral, fiziks, kimia, english ...all in the name of education...it's so wasteful that I can't stand it!

I'm so hungry rite now..Time for dinner!!!

korean fan magazine in english proposal

Here's the original post:

GotknockedupinUS and I have been kicking around an idea, and think we may be able to pull it off eventually, but we need your help. Would you buy/subscribe/spread the word about a fan magazine, in English, dedicated to our beloved Korean dramas, their stars and Korean pop stars?

Here are a few questions we'd need answered to take this idea to the broadcasters and publishers:
1. Assuming this would be published quarterly, would you pay $8-10 per issue for a glossy, fashion-type mag of approx 70 pages?

2. Would you be willing to subscribe? Subscriptions usually mean a discount on the cover price and recieving special, free promotional items (posters, maybe an OST, etc.) that are not available if the magazine is purchased at a newsstand or book store.

3. What would you like to see in the magazine? We were thinking of the following:
a. Lots and lots of great pictures.
b. Poster pullouts.
c. Lots and lots of interviews.
d. Behind the scenes reports from dramas, parties and press tours.
e. Celebrity profiles.
f. Recaps of favorite episodes, entire series recaps.
g. Reviews.
h. Previews - but since this is quarterly, no breaking news would really be availble, since everyone surfs the web. We could possibly however, preview shows before they get here.
i. Q&A from readers, fan comments.
j. A Web site dedicated to the magazine.

If anyone has contacts, relationships, etc. with Korean broadcasters, distributors and the whoever can get more dramas subtitled, please let us know. We will obviously need the help of these providers to get materials - IN ENGLISH - to put forward this idea to publishers. We have some contacts on the publishing side, but we need to make sure we can get the materials without just appropriating them from fan posts. This all has to be kosher and sanctioned by the Korean networks.

We were thinking this is a viable product for many English speaking, Korean fan territories including: the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and wherever else you know there are English speaking fans.

One more favor. If you are active on any other boards - in English, or that read English - related to Korean entertainment, and the Korean Wave, could you please pass along this information/request with the link to this post? To make this happen, we have to prove there are enough people willing to buy the magazine to make it worth publishing. We need to have a way to show the number of non-Korean speaking fans that we all know are out there. We will try to get ratings from broadcasters as well as figure out how we can get more stations to carry Korean dramas - with subs - to make the numbers work, but we need your help to show how big a base already exists.

If you have any other suggestions as to how to make this magazine happen we gladly accept them. Sorry for such a long post, but we're really excited about the possibility of making this a reality. Thanks to all of our fellow Korean drama addicts!

Whatdya guys think? Support this!!! And if you would actually support it, you can leave a comment at the original site, korean wave to let them get some feedback.

free time

I have half an hour to spare before the oc starts so I'll just update on my happenings.

Currently blasting on my pc is the song 'I Was Born To Love You' by Queen aka the theme song from Pride. I thought it was sung by a jap guy so I was kinda shocked to find out it was sung by Queen. I'm becoming more and more of a fan of them. They have some seriously nice songs like We Will Rock You (a classic), Bohemian Rhapsody (a pretty weird song but I love it!), We Are The Champions, Another One Bites The Dust and I Was Born To Love You.

I've finally finish my Ranger's Second Class Test! Oh joy! And it only took me an hour to finish my knots and panji! And had to complete my running on Saturday. Yay, finally I don't have to worry about the stinking tests no more. After that, we learned some songs which was quite fun. Though, I still don't understand why we learn them but never have an opportunity to sing the songs. There was the really morbid song about the sharks (lol), the edelweiss song (ah, luv that song since i heard it from the sound of music) and the dum-dum-ditty-ditty song (has a very nice tune).

So, I went to the Interact IU yesterday with Suze and Chai Yan. Aly, who promised to come was MIA. The performances were quite cool especially the one where they danced with the music mix of N Sync songs. Oh, man, that one was so damn cool. Just loved the movements and routine. Very punk, izit? I'm not sure. The only thing that bothered me was the music was too loud. My poor eardrums were gonna burst. And one more annoying thing were the emcees. They also had the game where they make the girls tie the guys' hair with rubber bands. Aiyo, the poor guyz. They always get bullied. They should turn the tables around and let the guys have a turn for some fun. Anyway, the best one was one guy who had a flower on his ear. Yea, he definitely looked the best. Lol. After that, they had the food bazaar. I think the croissant sandwiches were the biggest seller other than the pizza since it's easy to eat. But I think they had a lot of leftovers since it was quite ex.

Went to MPH in One Utama today. They have definitely improved on their shelfing of books. I find it much easier to look at the books now. And they even mark the parts where the next alphabet begins! Dan Brown's books were taking up a whole lot of space. And I've bought Angels & Demons (finally!). I can't wait to start reading it. I also bought book 1 of the mediator series by meg cabot and the lord of the flies by william golding. I hope the 2nd book won't bore me.

k-drama: 18 vs. 29

열여닯 스물아홉(Yeol Yeo Dal Su Mul A Hob)

(taken from KBS and soompi)
"1829" is based on Ji Su-hyeon's Internet novel "The 4321 Days We Shared." This drama takes the audience back to the 1990s. The main character of the drama, Yoo Hye-chan, 29, reverts mentally to an 18-year-old girl after having a car accident. As she recovers her memory and the relationship with her husband, Kang Sang-yeong, she goes through many hilarious and heart-moving moments.

Hye-chan, who was a beauty queen in high school, marries her former classmate Kang Bong-man. In 2005, she turns 29. But after a fierce fight with her husband, she heads to court to file for divorce, unable to control her rage anymore. On her way to court, her car clashes with a truck, and as a result she develops amnesia. She only remembers herself as a senior high schooler, when she was sassy and outgoing, and popular with her peers. As her memory reverts to her adolescent years, she suddenly becomes crazy about the dance group "Seo Tae Ji and Kids," which was popular with teenagers back in the ‘90s. While looking strong on the surface, deep inside she is soft-hearted and feeble. She likes Jane Campion's movie "Piano" a lot. Although Kang Bong-man, nicknamed "Ice Prince," is the ideal of every girl in Hye-chan's school, she regards him as shallow. The guy she really likes is her senior, Jeong Shi-woo.

But in reality, Hye-chan's husband is Kang Bong-man, whom she despised so much in high school. He changes his name to Kang Sang-yeong when he becomes an actor. In the latter part of the drama, Hye-chan recovers her memory and pursues her dream of becoming a film director. When Hye-chan loses her memory, Sang-yeong becomes preoccupied with mending their shattered relationship. He collects all the messages they had exchanged in the past to help her remember who he is. The replays of Hye-chan's memories, which are presented in diverse ways, add to the drama's tantalizing plot.

cast:

Park Soon Young (from Truth, Oh! Pil Seung) as Yoo Hye Chan
Hye-chan is a 29-year-old housewife. The plagued relationship with her husband, the “handsome king,” spurs her to file for divorce. But on her way to court, she gets into a car accident, and when she wakes up she thinks she is 18. While physically she looks like a housewife in her late 20s, mentally she reverts to the age of 18. Nowadays, they've changed from the whole leukiemia-dying theme to the amnesia theme. Lol. And the whole plot of the story just calls for lots of hilarious moments. Her mind reverts back to her 18-year-old past just as she's about to get a divorce from her husband. And the husband thinks she's just joking about her amnesia but soon realises that it's real. And the girl only remembers him as the guy who she hates in high school. And now, he has to make her fall in love with him all over again. Aah, the storyline is just perfect!
Just watched the first ep and it's got me excited and wanting more!!! But sadly, they only have subs for the first ep so far. I am patiently waiting for the next ep subs to come...

some more results and clubbox

fizik: 83 - yay for bonus marks!!!!!
bio: 80 - *wipes sweat* phew, just made it...
sejarah: 89 - yay, i'm definitely happy for my this...but if only i put zigurat for that stupid question...

still the bm papers are nowhere to be seen...sigh...english also...

Anywayz, i have found another way to download k-movies and dramas...muahahahaha...introducing clubbox. Clubbox is a site where ppl can upload movies and any stuff they want and you can download from them...it's for korean people only though. And each person has storage file of up to 100GB..yikes. The download speed is very fast (for me, anyway)...it's going at a steady 45kb/s which is faster than torrent. I'm going to download like crazy! lol. The only setback for clubbox is you can only download one at a time. clubbox.blogspot.com has the list of dramas and movies and the sites to go to. It also contains instructions link.

and abi, if you wanna download songs, you should go to soompi forums. you can request or search for songs, english or korean or jap or watever...and they upload from yousendit and youshareit. You can use that , rite? It's so fast and easy!
o...can you check the ost for joseph, how new is it? i wanna get a faster version for 'any dream will do'...got starlight express? avenue q? wonderful town? lol...so nice if you had these...

7 most romantic tv couples

source: MSN
by Jason Davis

They come into our living rooms for years on end. We wonder will they or won't they, and when they do, it's usually the end of the show. Here's a look at 7 TV couples that illustrated love on the small screen.

 1. David Addison and Maddie Hayes from Moonlighting
Never have we wanted two people who so annoyed each other to get together. The sparks flew every week at the Blue Moon Detective Agency and the audience ate up every spiteful minute of it — until Dave and Maddie made it official ... then the show was over.

 2. Buffy Summers and Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Theirs was a forbidden love — a vampire and the slayer, but he had a soul and things looked okay until they consummated their love and a gypsy curse robbed him of his conscience. Relieved of his humanity, Angel went on a murderous rampage culminating with Buffy killing him. Of course, he came back the next season, but their love was too dangerous, so he got a spin-off.

 3. John Steed and Emma Peel from The Avengers
"Surely not!" you say. Steed and Peel? Her husband had vanished and he was ... well, a confirmed bachelor, but when Mr. Peel showed up in Emma's swan-song episode — he was the very image of Mr. Steed. Repression, thy name is The Avengers. They were just too English to give in to what the audience already knew.

 4. Dana Scully and Fox Mulder from The X-Files
Series creator Chris Carter made a mantra of never letting the two F.B.I. agents get together, but the interrupted kiss in 1998's feature film signaled the crumbling of Carter's anti-relationship wall. Three seasons later, Scully would be with child and there was little doubt who was responsible.

 5. Ross Geller and Rachel Green from Friends
The best measure of a successful TV romance is how many people will shout at the TV when a final episode seems set to deny a happy ending. The massive sigh of relief issued the world over when Rachel appeared at Ross's door at the end of May's finale is a testament to one of TV's most enduring on again off again couples ... no more breaks!

 6. Jamie and Paul Buchman from Mad About You
Eight seasons of mostly marital bliss is what the Buchmans offered audiences in the 90s. They were funny, they loved each other and the audience loved them for it. Unfortunately, they had a child, and the show was doomed.

 7. Barnabas Collins and Josette du Pres from Dark Shadows
For a generation growing up in the late 60s, love was exemplified by a man who endured centuries as a vampire in pursuit of a seemingly endless series of reincarnations of his lost love Josette. Often killing, torturing or imprisoning people in basements, Barnabas was unfailing in his love for a woman who, let's be honest, seemed awfully prone to jumping off cliffs.

Their love spans seasons, and they become like old friends who visit once a week. They have their ups and downs, but they are our most pervasive icons of what love should be.

test results & ms. christina chan

so today we had our first encounter with out english teacher, ms. christina. an interesting character, to say the least. as soon as she entered the class, she was already talking away and then told us to get into groups of 4. apparently, she wanted us to play a game. so she gave each group an envelope and we were all excited to open it up. what was inside were strips of paper containing the words of a poem,...u know, the 'i am only one but i am one' poem...anyway, we had to arrange it in the right order and whoever did it the fastest wins. i managed to remember it cos i really liked that poem so my group and another group won. after that, she asked us if we could remember it and nazlina managed to recite it. strangely, she was impressed because we beat the record of solving the poem in less than a minute and we were the only class who managed to remember what the poem was....i didn't believe her..but, whatever...
anywayz, she told us about the origins of that poem and how it came to be on the wall next to 5sc1...courtesy of hers truly...lol...she is quite a fun character and very energetic...much more intersting than mrs. n, in my opinion...some people might depise her for her hyperness but i like it...keeps the class interesting...then, she told us that we would have to memorize the poem cos we are going to have to recite it everytime she comes into class...some people were even jotting the poem down...which is ridiculous because people, it's right there on that friggin wall if you look out the window!

ok..my test result are in..a few of them anyway...but some teachers aren't giving us our papers yet because the mssd ppl haven't done their tests...damn mssd's..i want my paper!! even if i get a really low mark..the anticipation is killing me.

add m3: 72.5 - oklarrr...but i was still hopin i'd get an A..lol..i'm not kiasu but i'm still geram when i don't see an A..even an 80 would be fine already..but i can't complain since half the class failed...yikes...and miss ho were lecturing us that paper 1 was so easy that we should have gotten high marks for it..and she told us that in the past, paper 1 and 2 were both in the p2 format...and repeated it about 4 times...
mod m3: 92.5 - yayz!...but miss ho was once again saying that paper 1 was so easy since we should have already mastered f1-3 work...everything for her is so damn easy...
est: 95 - all because i didn't put that friggin word: avoid. come on, gimme a break..and also i answered one obj wrong..sigh..
moral: 94 - yay..can't complain about moral...not one bit...
fizik: 79 - haven't got the papers yet..but we managed to see our marks...here's hoping that teacher counted wrong and i'll get one more mark!!!

for bm, my teacher hasn't marked yet..i mean, what has she been doing during the holz?!

k-movie: a moment to remember

poster 1

poster 2

aka Eraser In My Head

This movie is about Kim Su Jin (Son Ye Jin) and Choi Chul Soo (Jung Woo Seong) and their love story. The story starts off as Su Jin waits at the train station for someone to arrive. She was planning to run away with a married man but he didn't show up. She was heartbroken and left. Su Jin went to a convenience store and bought a coke but forgot to take it when she went out. She went back to get it and was going in but the entrance was blocked by Chul Soo who was coming out. The kept getting into each other's way untill she looked up at him annoyed. He was holding a coke can and opened it. He was going to drink from it but she snatched it and drank it. After that, she left and Chul Soo watched her go, smiling.
After that, they meet again at a construction site. When she bought a coke from the can machine, he took it from her and drank it. Later, they decide to go steady. After dating a while, Su Jin wonders if he could meet her parents but Chul Soo refuses, saying why should he meet her parents. They argue a lot because of this but she sets him up to meet her parents anyway. During the meeting, Su Jin collapsed because of overstress and Chul Soo carried her to the hospital. Seeing how in love they were, her parents decided to let them be. They get married and live a happy life. But then the unexpected happens. Su Jin gets more and more forgetful so she went to see a doctor. She is diagnosed with a rare case of Alzheimer's disease at age 27. She didn't want to tell Chul Soo but he later finds out. Su Jin tells him to leave her since she won't even remember him soon. Chul Soo says that he will be her memory and her heart. But things prove too tough later on, and Su Jin decides to run away because she didn't want to hurt Chul Soo anymore.
When Chul Soo gets a letter from her, he rushes off to find her, wanting to tell her something that he had never told her before. He manages to find her and brings her back to the first place they met, hoping to restore her memory. The last scene shows them driving and Chul Soo tells her 'i love you'.

I just watched this movie and it was absolutely beautiful. The story was so heartbreaking and I cried a few times during the movie. Wonderful acting and great chemistry between the two leads. Plus, Jung Woo Seong is so hot, especially when his hair is half-covering his eyes, he looks so cute. He plays a very rough guy, who's had a tough past while she portrays a happy, sweet woman. They are two very different people and yet they fall in love. The art direction is also great in this movie but I watched the director's cut of the movie so I don't know how different it is from the theatrical version. Their love story is quite different from the rest as it seems real and true between them, and there aren't any overdramatic scenes where they declare their love for each other. Rather, their love for each other is shown through actions. Anyway, you won't ever regret watching this movie. It is a serious must-see movie.

favourite scenes:
- when they first meet at the convenience store
- when chul soo says that if she drinks that glass of beer, then they would go steady. that part was so romantic..
- when he shows her the card trick. he looks so cute doing that.
- all the moments between them..lol..

arirang tv to air in malaysia

Local English cable channel Arirang TV will start its broadcasting service in Malaysia. Joon Young (Kwon Sang Woo), raised by a mother who sold liquor to American soldiers, met Hae In (Kim Hee Sun), who was blind, and became childhood sweethearts. Then, Hae In immigrated to the US following her American adoptive father and met Gun Woo (Yun Jung Hoon), who was Joon Young's friend and son of a very rich man. The story picks up again when composer Joon Young, singer Hae In, and music producer Gun Woo all meet again.

From the show's title, you can already tell that this is another stairway to heaven. There is bound to be the inevitable sadness and drama and well, this time there won't be anyone losing their memories but there will be another car crash (as usual) and the recurring blind theme which has been used by STH and also WS. The show is slightly different in that she starts out as a blind girl but later goes for an operation and recovers her eyesight. The only thing is is that she can't recognize joon young. But hey, i love k-dramas so who am I to complain? Bring on the drama!

preview - type='text'>end of the exams

woohoo! celebration times come on~dededede dede dede~

lol, anywayz, thus ends the first term exams...

sejarah was ok...i managed to get through studying it even though i was gonna fall asleep every time i read it...and luckily, i remembered the cities of the tamaduns...i knew they were gonna ask that...
also, somebody said that they weren't gonna ask zaman mesir purba and that mesir purba wasn't gonna be in subjectif at all...and guess what?..yup, it came out...bloody typical...i'm so glad i remembered it..

est was DA BOMB...omg, i love tat paper...it was so easy, like primary school level...well, ok maybe not so easy for ppl who are not that good in english but i just loved it....finished it in less than half an hour...and the writing part was so simple cos all you had to do was copy from the passage...

biologi was so-so...i didn't really like the subjectif...and the person who set the paper can't even draw a sel properly!...can't she fotostat or something?...anyway, i think i did my graf wrong too..which sucks...so i'll just push biologi out of my mind...on to...

m3....it was good...i managed to answer all the questions in paper 2...but there was one part where i made a mistake and i was rushing to correct it becos the time was gonna be over already...hope i got it rite...just hated that there were so many perpuluhan...
paper 1 was good again...i just despised the pantulan part...hate that whole bab...and i couldn't figure out that last question...so i just tembak C...rupa-rupanya i tembak rite...hehe...i was going B or C or B or C...then just decided to go with C...

tomorrow got piano theory exam...sigh...and i'll have to wake up early again...and sunday also since i have art class..ooo, but can't wait to go n watch some movies...haven't been out on my own for so type='text'>add m3 & physics

so, i started the day with a good mood..i was quite excited to do add m3 since i love that subject..even though it's confusing and just bloody freakin hard...anyway, add m3 paper 1 was fine...wasn't too hard but wasn't easy either...i would still prefer an easy paper though...and right after that came add m3 paper 2...yea, this is when the nightmare started...horrible...aboslutely horrible...i was so worried i counted wrong for each question since i often do that in my work...and i my stupid blue pen wasn't working...then i had to change to my black pen...and i was freaking out cos there was so little time...and then i couldn't figure out 2 questions and my m3 teacher was breathing down my back...i mean, some personal space man!...and my m3 paper was so messed up and messy..sigh...after that, i was just feeling so depressed...i didn't have the mood to do physics at all...

well, physics was like rain on a sunny day...it was quite easy..although don't hold that against me when i get low marks...and it was relaxing doing that paper for some reason...i just loved doing the graf..lol...didn't expect physics to be so nice but it reminded of the f3 science paper...so anyway, tomorrow is bio..the last of the science papers...thank God...and est...the most pointless subject of our syllabus...it's like learning english all over again...i wonder if it'll be hard...

moral & english

ok...moral went well, as far as i'm concerned...it wasn't really hard but i'm not sure if some of my answers can be accepted or not..i just did it the way my teacher told me...nilai-kata kunci-penerangan...and i wrote nilai bertanggungjawab n kerajinan so many times...it was so freakin tiring writing the same things over and over and over again...i was sick of writing the nilais by the end of the paper...but i didn't think the paper was hard...just hope it's sufficient enough to get an A...

aaah, english...the one way paper you can always count on to get you an A...your one beacon of light, shining down on you when the rest of those papers are out to get you...but wait...wat the hell?!...when did english become so hard?...o rite, when they decided to make it subjective...sigh...somebody pls kill me...
i was confused about some of the questions in the paper...and i'm pretty much expecting a B...my first B in more than 3 years for english..sob...

and tomorrow...physics and add m3...can't wait for add m3!!...even if it's hard, i'll still love it..but physics...ugh, i can only pray to God to make it easy...wish me luck...
<img width='1'
