sports day 2005

yup, that's me on sports day with a french plait! sad that you couldn't see it.

Hermine won!!!!!!!! Woohoooooo!! And I think we were the most semangat-ed when it came to cheering at the end.

Won no.1 for marching!!!! Thank God, thank God, after all the hard work and scolding we've gotten, the endless practices, the horrible mood swings of our trainers, the white skin that we can never get back... Though we all thought we were gonna lose cos our belok ke kiri and legs were horribly wrong. We were all in a bit of a depressed mood after that. Luckily we did a good job at the end part. And I think it was our spirit too. I really feel like our marchers were very bersemangat.
3rd is Clare and 2nd is Assunta. When Assunta was announced 2nd, we were all terrified that we were gonna be last cos francis marchers were really good....but poor things, they got disqualified cos of their costumes and they've worked so hard. Just shows that they should really explain to us all of the rules of marching.

1st for junior cheerleading

2nd for junior cheerleading

1st for senior cheerleading. They were really, really good. Loved their routine, it was really creative and well done.

2nd for senior cheerleading. Yahoo! Go ee wing!!

clare senior cheerleading

post-sports day

A few of us went to Pizza Hut to celebrate our victory after that. After all, it's traditional for the captain to belanja pizza.

Captn Sarah being choked. Love the angle of this pic.

my gold!

this pic is just too funny to not be posted up. I don't know what the hell she's doing. Praising the pizza probably. Lol.

Had loads of fun today. I''m gonna really miss marching, well not exactly marching, but just the atmosphere of it, the close bond we've all formed. And I'm gonna miss marching every morning. No more exercise for me. And I plan to hide from the sun for the entire year now. However, no way am I gonna march next year. Once is enough to last a lifetime. Good luck as captn naz, you're gonna need it...lol. I might join rangers marching next year, they're so relaxed and don't need to worry about their marching. Ok, now to concentrate on studies. 2 more weeks till the mid-year exams....yikes!

tomorrow's a holiday!

tomorrow's a holiday! tomorrow's a holiday! tomorrow's a holiday! I am so incredibly grateful cos I don't think I can stand one more day of non-stop marching. And I can finally get some much needed sleep.

Let's see...what have I been doing these past few days? Monday - raptai for the marchers. Tuesday - raptai sukan Wednesday - marching in the morning and afternoon. So basically, all we've been doing marching. And because of that, I now look like a malay. I want my fair skin back! I really, really hope we win cos we've been practising like crazy. Plus, all the scolding we've gotten...But when they don't scold us, it's quite fun too. Actually, marching with the team is fun, especially during resting hours where we joke around but then the mood goes away when they start to scold us. But quite worried since clare marchers are really good. Their legs are totally perfect and coordinated. I don't know bout us...

Anyway, just watched Windstruck while doing m3. The korean movie starring Jeon Ji Hyun and Jang Hyuk. It's about this woman cop who meets this guy whom she thought was a robber, and so ended up beating him up and dragging him back to the police station. Later, they ended up dating. But then, during one of her police missions, she accidentally shoots him and he dies. And so the last half of the show involves her being sad and wanting to kill herself. She remembers that he once said that when he dies, he wants to reborn as the wind. So whenever she feels the wind, he will be there by her side. Then, she got shot and was going to die but then he appears to her in a dream and tells her to accept that he's dead. So, she manages to live. At the end, he appears to her again and they say their last words to each other before he leaves. Then he as the wind, brings her to a new guy. The end.
I was kinda expecting another Sassy Girl movie but it turned out quite different. And it was quite funny to see Cha Tae Hyun at the end..I was so suprised..haha...But anyway, overall, I thought it was a weird movie. Though there were some very cute moments at the beginning. eg: when they got handcuffed together and took turns to wash their face. That scene was just too adorable. And the show has a pretty nice soundtrack too.

to complain about marching

Im sick of people being ungrateful about us marching. I come every single bloody morning and every wednesday and thursday, and still, they scold and yell at us. I mean, yea, ok there were some who always never come, but I am not one of them and neither is Pei2, Naz and ...but we are the ones who get scolded, wtf?!!! And Puan Shailajah or watever the heck you spell her name, came to give us some scolding too. Teachers can be so un-understanding. It's not that easy to get out of class, some teachers have no compassion or empathy and just say that they don't care about your marching, so what the heck am I suppose to do? I can't just leave the friggin class. And I don't even want to skip classes, especially not m3.And she was scolding us about not coming for merentas desa. I had 'ching bing' aka chinese prayers on that day, I can't exactly skip that or I'll be haunted by my ancestors for not visiting them. I was really giving it my all already but they don't even see it. Eeeesh, I thought sports was supposed to be fun. Ungrateful people!

final test results for the first exam

I got 70 for english. 70. For english. Sigh, props to me for not handing in my summary and thus having many, many marks deducted. I haven't gotten 70 for english since, ...well, never. For BM, I got a 65. Well, can't hope much for that paper.
So overall, I got 6(A1), 3(A2) and 1(3B). Stupid BM, tarnish my beautiful A's. Lol. And even with those lousy marks of mine, I got 4th in class with a 81.20 percentage! Yay! I didn't really expect to get that high. 1st was Sheau Ruey, 2nd Su Zhen and 3rd Siva. Smart alecs.

Ya know, now they're giving us both the report slip and another piece of paper for our parents to sign to ensure that we won't sign it ourselves. What makes them think that we can't forge our parents signature on the other piece of paper? And what's annoying me more is that fact that it's wasting paper. They already know the earth is in a critical condition right now, somemore they want to waste so much paper. And not only that, the papers we fotostat everyday for moral, fiziks, kimia, english ...all in the name of education...it's so wasteful that I can't stand it!

I'm so hungry rite now..Time for dinner!!!

korean fan magazine in english proposal

Here's the original post:

GotknockedupinUS and I have been kicking around an idea, and think we may be able to pull it off eventually, but we need your help. Would you buy/subscribe/spread the word about a fan magazine, in English, dedicated to our beloved Korean dramas, their stars and Korean pop stars?

Here are a few questions we'd need answered to take this idea to the broadcasters and publishers:
1. Assuming this would be published quarterly, would you pay $8-10 per issue for a glossy, fashion-type mag of approx 70 pages?

2. Would you be willing to subscribe? Subscriptions usually mean a discount on the cover price and recieving special, free promotional items (posters, maybe an OST, etc.) that are not available if the magazine is purchased at a newsstand or book store.

3. What would you like to see in the magazine? We were thinking of the following:
a. Lots and lots of great pictures.
b. Poster pullouts.
c. Lots and lots of interviews.
d. Behind the scenes reports from dramas, parties and press tours.
e. Celebrity profiles.
f. Recaps of favorite episodes, entire series recaps.
g. Reviews.
h. Previews - but since this is quarterly, no breaking news would really be availble, since everyone surfs the web. We could possibly however, preview shows before they get here.
i. Q&A from readers, fan comments.
j. A Web site dedicated to the magazine.

If anyone has contacts, relationships, etc. with Korean broadcasters, distributors and the whoever can get more dramas subtitled, please let us know. We will obviously need the help of these providers to get materials - IN ENGLISH - to put forward this idea to publishers. We have some contacts on the publishing side, but we need to make sure we can get the materials without just appropriating them from fan posts. This all has to be kosher and sanctioned by the Korean networks.

We were thinking this is a viable product for many English speaking, Korean fan territories including: the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and wherever else you know there are English speaking fans.

One more favor. If you are active on any other boards - in English, or that read English - related to Korean entertainment, and the Korean Wave, could you please pass along this information/request with the link to this post? To make this happen, we have to prove there are enough people willing to buy the magazine to make it worth publishing. We need to have a way to show the number of non-Korean speaking fans that we all know are out there. We will try to get ratings from broadcasters as well as figure out how we can get more stations to carry Korean dramas - with subs - to make the numbers work, but we need your help to show how big a base already exists.

If you have any other suggestions as to how to make this magazine happen we gladly accept them. Sorry for such a long post, but we're really excited about the possibility of making this a reality. Thanks to all of our fellow Korean drama addicts!

Whatdya guys think? Support this!!! And if you would actually support it, you can leave a comment at the original site, korean wave to let them get some feedback.

free time

I have half an hour to spare before the oc starts so I'll just update on my happenings.

Currently blasting on my pc is the song 'I Was Born To Love You' by Queen aka the theme song from Pride. I thought it was sung by a jap guy so I was kinda shocked to find out it was sung by Queen. I'm becoming more and more of a fan of them. They have some seriously nice songs like We Will Rock You (a classic), Bohemian Rhapsody (a pretty weird song but I love it!), We Are The Champions, Another One Bites The Dust and I Was Born To Love You.

I've finally finish my Ranger's Second Class Test! Oh joy! And it only took me an hour to finish my knots and panji! And had to complete my running on Saturday. Yay, finally I don't have to worry about the stinking tests no more. After that, we learned some songs which was quite fun. Though, I still don't understand why we learn them but never have an opportunity to sing the songs. There was the really morbid song about the sharks (lol), the edelweiss song (ah, luv that song since i heard it from the sound of music) and the dum-dum-ditty-ditty song (has a very nice tune).

So, I went to the Interact IU yesterday with Suze and Chai Yan. Aly, who promised to come was MIA. The performances were quite cool especially the one where they danced with the music mix of N Sync songs. Oh, man, that one was so damn cool. Just loved the movements and routine. Very punk, izit? I'm not sure. The only thing that bothered me was the music was too loud. My poor eardrums were gonna burst. And one more annoying thing were the emcees. They also had the game where they make the girls tie the guys' hair with rubber bands. Aiyo, the poor guyz. They always get bullied. They should turn the tables around and let the guys have a turn for some fun. Anyway, the best one was one guy who had a flower on his ear. Yea, he definitely looked the best. Lol. After that, they had the food bazaar. I think the croissant sandwiches were the biggest seller other than the pizza since it's easy to eat. But I think they had a lot of leftovers since it was quite ex.

Went to MPH in One Utama today. They have definitely improved on their shelfing of books. I find it much easier to look at the books now. And they even mark the parts where the next alphabet begins! Dan Brown's books were taking up a whole lot of space. And I've bought Angels & Demons (finally!). I can't wait to start reading it. I also bought book 1 of the mediator series by meg cabot and the lord of the flies by william golding. I hope the 2nd book won't bore me.

k-drama: 18 vs. 29

열여닯 스물아홉(Yeol Yeo Dal Su Mul A Hob)

(taken from KBS and soompi)
"1829" is based on Ji Su-hyeon's Internet novel "The 4321 Days We Shared." This drama takes the audience back to the 1990s. The main character of the drama, Yoo Hye-chan, 29, reverts mentally to an 18-year-old girl after having a car accident. As she recovers her memory and the relationship with her husband, Kang Sang-yeong, she goes through many hilarious and heart-moving moments.

Hye-chan, who was a beauty queen in high school, marries her former classmate Kang Bong-man. In 2005, she turns 29. But after a fierce fight with her husband, she heads to court to file for divorce, unable to control her rage anymore. On her way to court, her car clashes with a truck, and as a result she develops amnesia. She only remembers herself as a senior high schooler, when she was sassy and outgoing, and popular with her peers. As her memory reverts to her adolescent years, she suddenly becomes crazy about the dance group "Seo Tae Ji and Kids," which was popular with teenagers back in the ‘90s. While looking strong on the surface, deep inside she is soft-hearted and feeble. She likes Jane Campion's movie "Piano" a lot. Although Kang Bong-man, nicknamed "Ice Prince," is the ideal of every girl in Hye-chan's school, she regards him as shallow. The guy she really likes is her senior, Jeong Shi-woo.

But in reality, Hye-chan's husband is Kang Bong-man, whom she despised so much in high school. He changes his name to Kang Sang-yeong when he becomes an actor. In the latter part of the drama, Hye-chan recovers her memory and pursues her dream of becoming a film director. When Hye-chan loses her memory, Sang-yeong becomes preoccupied with mending their shattered relationship. He collects all the messages they had exchanged in the past to help her remember who he is. The replays of Hye-chan's memories, which are presented in diverse ways, add to the drama's tantalizing plot.

cast:

Park Soon Young (from Truth, Oh! Pil Seung) as Yoo Hye Chan
Hye-chan is a 29-year-old housewife. The plagued relationship with her husband, the “handsome king,” spurs her to file for divorce. But on her way to court, she gets into a car accident, and when she wakes up she thinks she is 18. While physically she looks like a housewife in her late 20s, mentally she reverts to the age of 18. But as time goes by, she recovers her memory step by step.

Ryu Soo Young (from Successful Story of A Bright Girl, Save The Last Dance For Me) as Kang Bong Man/Kang Sang Yeong
When his wife asks for a divorce out of the blue, he agrees to it because it hurts him a great deal. But finding that his wife has amnesia after the car accident, he makes every effort to help her recover her memory and mend their relationship. He is one of the most sought-after commercial film models and a famous entertainer.

Park Eun Hye (from Jewel In The Palace) as Sin Ji Yong
A top-rated actress, Ji-yeong falls for Hye-chan’s husband, Kang Sang-yeong, one-sidedly, while Hye-chan acts like an 18-year-old girl as a result of her amnesia.

Lee Jung Mun as Kim Nun
Nun is a high-school student who sincerely loves Hye-chan.

Jung Da Hye as Lee Eun Ji
Eun Ji is a tough gangster girl obsessed with Kim Nun.

I love the storyline. Nowadays, they've changed from the whole leukiemia-dying theme to the amnesia theme. Lol. And the whole plot of the story just calls for lots of hilarious moments. Her mind reverts back to her 18-year-old past just as she's about to get a divorce from her husband. And the husband thinks she's just joking about her amnesia but soon realises that it's real. And the girl only remembers him as the guy who she hates in high school. And now, he has to make her fall in love with him all over again. Aah, the storyline is just perfect!
Just watched the first ep and it's got me excited and wanting more!!! But sadly, they only have subs for the first ep so far. I am patiently waiting for the next ep subs to come...
